How to make sausage rolls fast and easily without using oven - 3 ingredient recipe

A classic sausage roll is a favourite amongst many, and given the festive period, hosts may be serving it to their guests at dinner parties and gatherings.

Instead of whipping out bland shop-bought sausage rolls, you can easily make your own that will taste better.

You don’t need to even go to the trouble of turning on your oven for this recipe, as these beauties can be cooked in the air fryer.

There isn’t even a need to preheat the air fryer, unlike with ovens, so you’ll save time and money on your energy bills.

I didn’t think the sausage rolls would cook so well in the air fryer, but I was wrong. It couldn’t have worked out any better.

I wanted to keep it simple with this recipe and as easy as possible so I opted for shop-bought puff pastry.

Ingredients

400g (six) sausages - any flavour can be used

320g ready rolled puff pastry

One egg, beaten

Method

I started by unrolling the pastry and cutting it in half lengthways so I had two long and thick strips.

The next step was to remove the casings from the sausages and line three along the centre of each strip of pastry. I squeezed them slightly so they filled the length of the pastry.

I then brushed one of the long edges of the pastry with some of the beaten egg, rolled the long side of the pastry closest to me tightly under the sausage and then kept rolling so the sealed edge was on the bottom.

After, I cut the sausage rolls into small lengths - this can be done as big or small as you like.

Using a knife, I made two indents on the top of each piece to allow steam to escape when cooking.

I then sprayed the air fryer basket with oil to avoid the sausage rolls from sticking and placed them in making sure they didn’t touch one another. I needed to cook the sausage rolls in batches to ensure this was the case.

Before leaving the sausage rolls to cook, I brushed all of them with some more of the egg wash to ensure they had that golden crispy top.

I cooked the sausage rolls at 190 degrees for 13 minutes. You may need to increase the time if you don’t see that crisp and golden brown top.
