Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be absent from the dugout against Tottenham after receiving his third yellow card of the season on Saturday. The Dutchman was booked for an explosive reaction while Kenny Tete struggled with an injury in the second half of Fulham's Premier League visit to Anfield.

Tete went down and required treatment after clashing with Joe Gomez inside the visitors' box, which sparked cries for a penalty from the home side.

Boos spread around Anfield as the Fulham defender fell to the ground again shortly after play restarted, similarly angering players and coaches.

The incident infuriated Slot, and he pressed referee Tony Harrington's buttons too hard moments after Timothy Castagne replaced Tete.

Curtis Jones saw yellow for a foul, and the Liverpool boss' reaction was too fierce, prompting Harrington to add him to his book.

The official was kept on his toes during the dramatic meeting on Merseyside, with Issa Diop, Luis Diaz, Andreas Pereira, Antonee Robinson, Sander Berge and Darwin Nunez also seeing yellow.

Harrington also sent Andy Robertson off in the 17th minute for denying a goal-scoring opportunity.

The Scottish left-back will miss the midweek Carabao Cup quarter-final at Southampton as well as the Premier League games against Tottenham and Leicester City.

Slot is set to be absent at Spurs rather than Southampton due to the Premier League's rule on yellow cards.

A red card suspension carries over into the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, including sending offs via two yellow cards.

However, if a player is booked 10 times across the first 32 Premier League matches, they face a two-match ban.
