The pretty UK seaside towns in one of most affordable places to rent | UK | News

New data has revealed beautiful seaside towns in an area of the UK ranked amongst the most affordable places in which to rent.

The Office for National Statistics has published a list of local authorities in England and Wales and how much of the income of a privately rented household is spent on rent on average.

North Lincolnshire in the East Midlands was the most affordable place in the 2022/23 financial year (18.8%).

But one can't really say that this is on the coast, more on the riverside as it is below the Humber. The next most affordable place was Stoke-on-Trent in the West Midlands (19.1%).

This is slap bang in the middle of the country, more or less. Third came Copeland in the northwest of England (19.1%).

This Cumbrian district is located near the Lake District and contains an array of lovely seaside settlements including Lowca, Whitehaven, St. Bees, Nethertown, Sellafield, Seascale, Silecroft, Annaside, Hyton and Haverigg.

The Irish Sea is nearby, as is the Isle of Man is not very far away.

According to listings on Rightmove, an apartment can be rented for as little as £400 per calendar month.

The description of a Carleton listing reads: "Are you looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life, with jaw-dropping views of the picturesque fells? Then look no further."

"This cosy, self-contained studio apartment has everything you need; simply bring your suitcase. It is situated within a traditional farmhouse, with parking and outside space to relax after a hard day's work.

"This property would make an ideal base for any working professional. Within driving distance of Ravenglass, Eskdale, Santon Bridge and Gosforth homes of some of the best Countryside pubs, you'll be spoilt for choice and with your utilities included in your rental price!"

Other places are listed on the site for £475, £550 and £600 per calendar month.

Rightmove says of house prices: "House prices in Copeland have an overall average of £164,930 over the last year.

"The majority of properties sold in Copeland during the last year were terraced properties, selling for an average price of £109,471—semi-detached properties sold for an average of £161,870, with detached properties fetching £286,746.
