Beau Greaves has demanded the PDC scrap their “stupid” rule that prevents women from playing at the World Darts Championship if they have featured in the WDF Women’s World Championship. The 20-year-old won her third consecutive WDF women’s world title on Sunday night after thrashing Sophie McKinlay 4-1 in the showpiece match.

Women who compete in the WDF event aren’t eligible to play in the PDC World Championship as well, despite the fact the latter is open to women as well as men.

And Greaves is desperate for darts chiefs to tweak the regulations in the future.

“I love WDF darts. It’s the only Tour that gives you a World Championship for women,” she explained. “The PDC is great. But it doesn’t have a World Championship. It has a World Matchplay. That isn’t good enough.

“The PDC has to have a World Championship to justify having a Tour for the ladies. The Women’s Series is great and the money is good. At the same time, we want more for it. The ruling about not being able to play both is stupid.

“I can understand the men doing it but the women, I don’t understand that part of it. They don’t have a World Championship for the women. The WDF has a ladies’ World Championship and you have to pick what is best for you.”

Greaves was the overwhelming favourite ahead of her showdown with McKinlay but lost the opening set against her rival.

She won 12 of the next 14 legs, however, and hit six maximums as she comprehensively dispatched her opponent to land a prize of £25,000.

And after the final, she said: “The ladies’ game is massive to me. As well as the PDC do, they don't do a ladies' World Championship and that's a big thing for me when I was younger.

“I wanted to be a women's world champion and I got that at Lakeside, and I wanted to defend it - I did that - so I can't not go back. I don't know why people would think I wouldn't do that.

“It's a difficult decision. I would love to go and play [in the PDC World Championship]. I've enjoyed playing this year more than I did last year here. I know my results aren't as good but I have enjoyed it more.

“The ladies’ game is not just made up of me, Fallon [Sherrock], Lisa [Ashton] and whoever. There is a whole bunch of us that need to get better.”

And she added: “It's a shame they make you choose. I don't understand that, I don't know why they do it. I think it's stupid. I'd love to.

“I wouldn't go and win Ally Pally but I'd give it a good crack and see if I played well - but ultimately I want to be a ladies' world champion.”
