How to remove limescale from toilets fast without bleach

Limescale buildup in your toilet often takes the form of white, pink, green or black stains.

The presence of unsightly toilet limescale is often evident as the stubborn stains refuse to disappear like other marks within your loo/

Households regularly reach for bleach or potent cleaning agents, but these can be overpowering in smell and even make the stains worse.

Laura Harnett, the founder of Seep eco tools, has her top tips for tackling toilet limescale without resorting to harsh chemicals.

Laura recommended that soda crystals, white vinegar, and bicarbonate of soda can be used to effectively combat nasty limescale deposits.

According to her advice: “Soda crystals or baking soda poured down will work and use your loo brush to scrub them into the limescale to lift it away.”

She also suggested: “Baking soda mixed with white vinegar forms a paste which is another alternative method to remove it.”

Notably, bicarbonate of soda, commonly referred to as baking soda, packs more punch than white vinegar due to its greater abrasiveness.

Should those suggested natural cleaning items prove ineffective against toilet limescale, Laura advised employing something with more grit, such as the use of a pumice stone.

She instructed: “Attach a pumice stone to a strong stick and give limescale a scrub to remove even the toughest and thickest of stains.”

Pumice stones are commonly used on feet or hard, dry skin, but there are versions on sticks that can be used to remove limescale on toilets and other parts of the bathroom.

However, it is worth noting that you can easily damage your toilet and the porcelain if you don’t use it correctly.

The key is to submerge the pumice stone into the water as this will soften the stone so that it doesn’t scratch.

Once wet, simply rub the stone over the stains and erase it the same way you would erase pencils from paper.

In less than a minute you can eliminate all signs of those pesky rings and you don’t have to worry about any chemicals because it is completely safe.
