Tommy Fury has cancelled his boxing fight with Darren Till after the MMA star threatened to resort to his own sport if he started losing. The former Love Island star and unbeaten professional boxer was set to make his long-awaited return to the ring on January 18.

The Misfits Boxing main event was set to see Fury come up against Till, a star of UFC. However, the duo had to be pulled apart during a tense press conference in which Till said he would be willing to head-kick Fury if he found himself in a losing position.

That threat was enough for Fury to cancel the fight. He hopes to land a new opponent.

The 25-year-old wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I am writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18, 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing [sic] the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp.

“We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

Till has responded by claiming he was simply trying to sell the fight to fans and that he was not going to kick Fury. He finished a post on X by calling out Jake Paul, who recently defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson.

“Tommy Fury u are the biggest s***house I have ever met in my life do not ever call yourself a fighter again,” Till wrote.

“I was selling the fight to make me and you more money you absolute empty head fighting family my ass you and ur dad s***houses. I don’t need to throw kicks you was getting knocked spark out you divvy.

“We was making bank on this fight cos of me not you I was building it you should be fighting and should be thanking me… over and out… no one wants to fight me… Jake Paul what are you up to you big fat dummy?”
