Waitrose issues urgent recall on supermarket takeaway item - ‘do not consume’

Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Chinese Takeaway Bag for Two and has urged customers not to eat them.

This is because it contains molluscs, which are not mentioned on the label.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to molluscs.

Waitrose has urged customers “do not consume” the product and said to “package up the item”.

Customers should return the product to their local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.

Product:

Waitrose Chinese Takeaway Bag for 2

Use by: All dates from September 21, 2024 to December 4, 2024

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “We are issuing this recall on December 4, 2024, which is the last use-by date quoted in this recall.

“This is because the product is suitable for freezing and therefore there may be products from the recall period in people’s freezers, which will need to be recalled.”

For any further information, contact Waitrose Customer Care on 0800 188 884, Option Four.

Waitrose apologised for the recall and any inconvenience it may have caused.

In other food recall news, Tesco recently recalled its Chicken Tsukune Skewers because of an incorrect use-by date on the packaging.

They have been labelled with a use-by date of December 23, 2024, instead of December 10, 2024.

This could pose a risk to health if the product is kept past the correct shelf life to the product.
