Edoardo Bove health update after Fiorentina star collapsed on pitch | Football | Sport

Reports out of Italy have claimed that Fiorentina star Edoardo Bove is conscious and breathing on his own after collapsing during his side's Serie A match with Inter Milan.

Sky Italia say that he was transported to Careggi hospital in Florence and has since regained consciousness and is breathing on his own.

The report further states that the Italian has a regular heartbeat and has spoken to those in the room with him. He is being supported by Fiorentina medical and coaching staff in hospital, which is located close to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The 22-year-old midfielder, on loan at Fiorentina from Roma, was said to have fallen to the floor with no other player near him before both teams rushed to his side alongside medical assistance.

Just 16 minutes had been played with the two teams deadlocked at 0-0 before Bove's collapse. The report claimed that while the match had briefly been paused for a VAR check, Bove stooped down to tie his shoelaces before falling to the floor.

Bove's team-mate Andrea Colpani was among many on the pitch who could be seen crying before both teams were sent back to their dressing rooms.

Fiorentina medical staff, led by Dr. Luca Pengue, performed cardiac massage on Bove, who was then carried on a stretcher to an ambulance and transported to hospital. There has been no official diagnosis of his condition.

"The match will not resume and is postponed to a date to be determined," a Serie A statement read. "With the game interrupted, Bove collapsed to the ground and the situation immediately appeared very serious. An ambulance took the player away, we await news."

When the fixture does resume at a later date, as per protocol, it will resume from the 17th minute where it was suspended.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, who now plays for Fiorentina alongside Bove, has been among several team-mates to post on social media about the young midfielder.

"God Please," he wrote on X (formerly known on Twitter), having started the match for La Viola. The league added their own well-wishes, writing: "Forza Edoardo. We're all with you."

Bove has been a regular for Fiorentina since joining on loan during the summer transfer window. He scored his first goal for the club in October in a 5-1 win over parent club Roma.

Raffaele Palladino's outfit signed Bove on loan for €1.5m (£1.25m) with the option to make it permanent for a further €10.5m (£8.75m).
