Amazon rivals Apple by offering 'lowest ever' iPad price

Black Friday is almost here - but most retailers have already gone all out and started to cut the price of many products before the bonanza sale this week. As Friday 29 November fast approaches we've found a deal that makes ditching the main sale date worthwhile.

Amazon has cut the price of the Apple iPad to the lowest of all time, now £289 down from £329 which is one of the lowest prices ever according to CamelCamelCamel. That price is for the Wi-Fi only model but there is also a discount on the Wi-Fi and cellular version as well which lets you browse the web and send emails on the move via a data connection. This fully connected iPad did cost £479 but that's been dropped to £449 in the sale.

These cheaper deals can be found on the iPad 10th Generation model, and while it's not the newest launch, this 2022 model still stands up well for your money. It comes with 64GB of storage as well as an 11-inch screen and a speedy A14 bionic chip onboard, making it easy to breeze through any working-on-the-go tasks or streaming favourite films at home.

There's even a pair of 12MP cameras, for work calls or taking selfies, whatever suits you. And it's a model which The Express tech team also rated a strong four out of five stars back in 2022.

Tech Editor David Snelling said: "We used the new iPad for almost a week and there's no doubt that this is a very nice device. It looks great, has a stunning 10.9-inch edge-to-edge display, improved cameras that now keep you in shot when making video calls and there's very long battery life.

"You also get a USB-C charger in the box, decent speakers and speedy Wi-Fi 6 technology for much faster downloads. Alongside the tablet, Apple has launched a nice new keyboard case for the iPad which gets full function keys and a nifty design that makes it perfect for work and play."

However, at the time of writing the review, David did point out some gripes with the iPad 10th Generation model. As he said: "It's pretty hard to fault the actual iPad itself but there are definitely some strange decisions from Cupertino that now makes the iPad line-up all a bit baffling.

"Had this new tablet fully replaced the older iPad 9th Gen at a similar price we wouldn’t be scratching our heads. But with that device still on sale and the more impressive iPad Air... consumers are going to need to do a serious amount of homework before making their next choice."

Amazon isn't the only retailer taking part in the global Black Friday sales and if you did want to shop around for tablet deals there's certainly a lot of choice at the moment. Argos is selling a Lenovo M10 tablet for £120 right here. Fellow Apple fans can make the most of Sky Mobile's £11 per month deal on the same 10th Generation iPad model - a way to split the cost into more affordable payments.
