Man Utd team news: Predicted XI vs Ipswich with Rashford and Garnacho calls | Football | Sport

New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will be hoping to begin his reign on a winning note when he takes charge of his first Premier League game against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

It's been nearly four weeks since the 39-year-old was announced as Erik ten Hag's successor, but the international break and his notice period with former club Sporting have kept him away from the dugout.

With both now concluded, the Portuguese tactician is ready to make his mark at Old Trafford with a new formation to help reverse their fortunes after a poor start to the campaign.

But after a full week of training at Carrington, Amorim will have a better idea of which players he is keen on selecting for his managerial debut in England.

Man Utd predicted XI vs Ipswich (3-4-3)

Goalkeeper: Andre Onana

The safest place in the United team for Amorim to pick is the goalkeeper, with Onana the undisputed choice as the Portuguese's No 1 goalkeeper.

The 28-year-old has kept three clean sheets in his last seven appearances and only conceded five times during that run of games. His deputy Altay Bayindir has only made two appearances - both of which have come in the Carabao Cup.

Barring a late injury scare, Cameroon star Onana will start in goal for the 50th consecutive game in the Premier League.

Defenders: Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez

The signs from training this week suggest Yoro is finally ready to make his long-awaited debut after his £52million summer switch from Lille.

The French defender, 19, suffered a fractured metatarsal before the season started and has been sidelined ever since. But he took part in Amorim's first training session on Monday after being pulled out of an Under-21s game against Altrincham, hinting he could get a chance to start.

Martinez will require assessment after picking up an injury on international duty with Argentina, while Victor Lindelof is likely to miss out along with Harry Maguire due to injury. Jonny Evans is fit, however, and the veteran will be on standby should either of Yoro or Martinez not make it.

Midfielders: Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Noussair Mazraoui

As part of Amorim's favoured formation, Dalot and Mazraoui are likely to be deployed as wing-backs while Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are eased back into action following long-term absences.

The good news in central midfield is that Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are back in training again, which means it won't be too long before the English pair return to the starting XI.

Ugarte's previous relationship with Amorim when they worked together at Sporting should see him pip Christian Eriksen for a start alongside holding midfielder Casemiro.

Attackers: Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford

It will take a bit of guesswork to decide which personnel Amorim will select in his three-man frontline. But with Fernandes an integral part of the team and club captain, the Portuguese playmaker should be safe as one of two No 10s.

The 30-year-old could take up his place on the inside right, with Rashford likely to succeed against Garnacho on the left side.

Rasmus Hojlund managed to avoid injury over the two-week international break and he will surely start ahead of the struggling Joshua Zirkzee, who has only one goal in 17 appearances this season.
