UK’s ‘most beautiful seaside village’ so popular holiday home owners make £30k | UK | NewsA beautiful seaside village is so popular that holiday home owners are making an average yearly income of more than £30,000. Income in Bamburgh, Northumberland, rose by a quarter from 2022-23 to £30,100, a report from Sykes Holiday Cottages shows. The coastal village is visited by thousands drawn to the majestic Bamburgh Castle, wide open beach and scenic walking trails. It is just one of Northumberland's holiday home gems, with Seahouses, Alnwick, Alnmouth and Beadnell also seeing letting income booming. James Shaw, Managing Director at Sykes Holiday Cottages, told Express.co.uk: "Data from our Holiday Letting Outlook Report revealed Northumberland as one of the top 10 highest earning regions to own a holiday let in the UK, with average yearly incomes sitting at £25,000 in 2023. "Bamburgh specifically was one of the locations that saw the greatest increase in income between 2022 and 2023, with yearly incomes jumping by an impressive 25% from £24,100 in 2022 to £30,100 in 2023. "Known for its unspoilt beauty, long sandy beaches, and well-preserved medieval castle and gardens, Bamburgh is hugely popular with holidaymakers and therefore one to watch for those considering getting into the holiday letting industry." Angie Doughty, who lets two properties in the ancient village of Warkworth, said Northumberland is a fantastic place to visit and avoids the massive influx of tourists other parts of Britain, such as Cornwall, can see. She told Express.co.uk: "It's unspoilt. Bamburgh, arguably perhaps, has the best castle in the world. It's a great place to visit. It's iconic. There's an amazing coastline." The village is a 40 minute drive from Warkworth, where Angie lets two holiday homes, Secret Kingdom Cottage and Manor House, which sleep four and 10 people respectively. Property owner Angie, who has worked in teaching, travel and sales, said letting her holiday homes is a pleasure. She said: "For me, this is the most rewarding job. It's a wonderful business to be in. I would recommend it to anybody. "It's just so nice to welcome people and be on hand to answer questions and give advice about the area. It's lovely to hear people say they've had a wonderful stay." Like Bamburgh, Warkworth boasts a castle, which sits atop a rocky spur by the River Coquet. The village itself features inns, shops and "upmarket" galleries. Its proximity to Northumberland National Park, Holy Island, and coastal villages such as Seahouses and Alnmouth make Warkworth an ideal base to explore a county made famous by popular TV series, including Vera. Prices for a seven night stay at Manor House in November range from £1,479 to £1,450. A week-long stay at Secret Kingdom Cottage costs £592 at the time of writing. Both properties are single level. From Newcastle, it's just over an hour by car to Bamburgh and 45 minutes to Warkworth, both via the A1. Source link Posted: 2024-11-03 08:08:08 |
