TVs are essential for the modern day living room and the age of streaming, but certain telly sets can cost an absolute fortune. With such variation in price, it’s difficult to know which model to buy, and how much to spend or save.

At the affordable end of the spectrum, there’s less chinstroking. Some TVs are as cheap as chips, and there’s a new range just launched that could rival Amazon’s Fire TVs as an all-in-one package to get you streaming TV for as little as possible.

A new TV from US brand Westinghouse costs just £125.99 but comes with Roku’s streaming software built in, so you don’t need to fork out for an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Apple TV box to start watching your favourite shows and films.

With Roku integrated into the TV, all you have to do is plug in to the mains and connect the TV to your home Wi-Fi network when you set it up. From there, you can navigate Roku’s OS (that’s operating system) using your phone as a remote control, and download all the apps you need and log in to your streaming services.

“A wide selection of entertainment to stream or watch live is available through an integrated Freeview tuner with all Roku TV models,” Roku said. “Consumers can access all the most popular local and global apps, including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Paramount+, and more.”

The very affordable Westinghouse TV in question is quite small at 24-inch, which is a corner to corner measurement of the screen, so make sure you work out how big the TV will be in the place you’re thinking of putting it. But at £125.99, this is cheap enough to pick up to kit out a kitchen, spare room or kid’s den to keep family and guests entertained.

It’s worth noting that this 24-inch screen is not the highest quality HD you might expect, but the 720p resolution should be good enough if you’re not too fussy about getting high-resolution pictures. Just bear in mind that Netflix and other services won’t render at its highest possible quality on this TV.
