Fans wowed by 'holy trinity' Primavera line-up but miss detail | Music | Entertainment

Music lovers are excited about the lineup for next year's Primavera Sound festival, with a "holy trinity" of artists set to headline.

Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and Chappell Roan are set to hit the stage in Barcelona, all of whom took the music scene by storm this summer.

Brat hitmaker Charli XCX, real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison, tweeted about the trio, with hundreds of thousands of Twitter/X users liking her post.

It reads: "Headlining Primavera Sound next year with sabrina and chappell. Finally holy trinity unlocked ;)"

The four-day festival, which takes place from June 5 to June 8, boasts a litany of other acts including Fontaines D.C., Idles and Cat Power covering the work of Bob Dylan.

But one announcement from the festival organisers appears to have gone unnoticed and may leave music fans stunned.

LCD Soundsystem, the alternative American rock band behind hits like Daft Punk is Playing At My House, All My Friends, and Dance Yrself Clean, confirmed they would be releasing a new album ahead of their festival appearance.

An announcement from Primavera Sound reads: " Almost twenty years after giving the world this dance-rock ode to friendship, the influential band led by James Murphy will come back to the festival (and with a new album!) to make it clear that, although they are an inherent part of our best memories, their time is always now."

It comes seven years after their previous album, American Dream, was released, and fans have been clamouring for new music from the James Murphy-led group ever since. The frontman disbanded the group in 2011 citing a desire to pursue other avenues of creative work but brought them back together just five years later.

Since then the band has released just one song, New Body Rhumba. News of their new album has delighted fans and shocked others who did not realise fresh material was on the way.

One user wrote: "this is a reminder to listen to the first three albums — genuinely one of the best three-album runs in music period." Another added: "Crying tears of joy."

But some were less-than impressed by the band's decision to continue touring after a sell-out show at Madison Square Garden in 2011. One Twitter/X user fumed: "Pretending to break up forever so everyone comes sees you and gives you ticket revenue, and then … not doing that, is a great grift."

Details on LCD Soundsystem's new album are sparse at present, but the band did debut new song X-Ray Eyes on NTS Radio earlier this week.
