Luke Littler's stunned rival chucks darts on floor as record smashed at Czech Darts Open | Other | Sport

Nathan Aspinall was left hurling his darts on the floor after beaing hammered by Luke Littler at the Czech Open. The teenager was at his sublime best in Prague, winning 6-1 to move into the last-16.

Littler produced a three-dart average of 110.43 during the clash, a new tournament record.

And his finishing was also ruthless, taking out 91, 128, 88 and 124 to leve Aspinall stunned.

'The Asp' simply had no answer to Littler's play, and made light of his helplessness after his rival took out double 11 to seal matters. He made a point of throwing all three of his darts onto the floor, but did laugh after doing so.

"Nathan Aspinall throws his darts away but what can you do against that?" said one PDC commentator. "It is a tournament record averafe for the 17-year-old in his first ever appearance at the Czech Darts Open."

Aspinall made a point of congratulating Littler for his performance as the pair embraced. And 'the Nuke', who trialled a new set of darts during the midweek Players Championship events, was more than satisfied afterwards.

"I'm happy with that," he said. "I know what I can throw with these darts and that's why I didn't play with the gold ones. There was load of talk about changing my darts so I've come here this weekend and made the decision to go back to what I know best."

Littler faces Damon Heta next on Sunday afternoon, and will prove difficult to beat if he can replicate his form of Saturday night. "It went well tonight," he added. "If I play like this again tomorrow I'll be very happy."

Australian player Heta was at his best to book his own spot in the last 16 though. He overcame Gabriel Clemens 6-3, averaging over 102 himself.
