Prince Harry returned to his homeland on his own earlier this year for the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, and appeared to scoff when a cameraman asked him if he was happy to be home.

The Duke didn't see his father, King Charles, during the visit due to "His Majesty's full programme", a fact which did little to quell rumours that the infamous royal rift is far from healed.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, haven't travelled back to Britain together since the funeral of the late Queen in September 2022, and don't have any public plans to do so soon.

Last week,Express.co.uk reported that the couple and their two young children — Archie, five and Lilibet, three — won't be travelling back to the UK for Christmas this year, despite receiving a family Christmas invite to Althorp by Harry's uncle, Charles Spencer.

The Duke's long-standing concerns and legal action over his family's safety in the UK is believed to be a major factor in his decision not to bring the whole Sussex clan home for a visit.

However, with news emerging that the couple has recently bought a property in Portugal — much closer to the UK than their permanent residence in California — speculation is mounting that they might be hoping for more opportunities to visit family in the UK.
