Iconic Scottish DJ, passes away following accidental injury in Ibiza | UK | News

Scottish DJ icon Jackmaster, whose real name is Jack Revill, has tragically passed away at the age of 38. The celebrated music figure died in Ibiza on Saturday [October 12], with his family revealing that his death was due to "complications arising from an accidental head injury" in a heart-wrenching statement.

Mourning the loss, they expressed: "It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of October 12, following complications arising from an accidental head injury."

They continued by sharing the depth of their pain: "His family - Kate, Sean and Johnny - are utterly heartbroken. While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss."

Originating from Glasgow, Jack honed his craft at the renowned Rubadub record shop and was later a co-founder of the highly respected record label Numbers, reports the Daily Star. His most current hit 'Nitro', featuring Kid Enigma, had been released not long before his passing, with Jack sharing thoughts in Electronic Groove magazine: "It was about feeling hyped and inspired in the club. Sadly, those moments are rare now. Blame the phones and people who don't dance, I think."

Jack professed to be thankful for all the love from his admirers but highlighted his passion for dancing, commenting: "I am so grateful for my fans, but I got into music because I love dancing. It's a lost art form at the moment, I think."

Following the heartbreaking news, electronica duo Disclosure took to their social platforms, sharing their devastation: "Can't believe this. Heartbroken. Thank you for all the amazing memories and inspiration Jack. This is just awful awful awful."

Industry stalwarts CamelPhat likewise paid tribute on Revill's Instagram, stating: "Can't believe what I'm reading... in an industry full of Ego you were hands down one of the nicest fellas we ever met along the way. Our thoughts are with family and friends. RIP my friend x."

Friends and fans alike have been flooding social media with tributes to the venerated DJ. Echoing these sentiments, musician and DJ Jamie Bryan posted: "Heartbreaking man, RIP," accompanied by an emoji that clearly conveyed his despair.

DJ Annie Mac mourned the untimely passing of Jack, posting a heartfelt message: "Devastated to hear of the tragic death of Jack Revill aka @jackmaster. He was hands down one of the best DJs in the UK; fearless and forward thinking, committed to the job at hand. "

She went on to say: "He was so charismatic, so fun, so sound, one of those guys who lit up a room. I always loved to see and speak to him. He was only thirty eight. I can't believe he's gone. Sending all my love and thoughts to his family and his loved ones."
