King Charles's very ordinary eating habits revealed by his ex-royal butler | Royal | NewsKing Charles has very ordinary eating habits according to his former butler. Grant Harrold, who worked as King Charles's butler from 2004 to 2011, said that while the monarch eats healthy food, he wouldn’t turn down the same food that many of us enjoy. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Grant said the King wouldn’t turn down a beer and a burger if it was offered to him. The ex-Butler said: “What I’ve found with the Royal Family while working for them is that when it comes to their eating habits there’s nothing really unusual. “The King wouldn’t say no to a burger, he wouldn’t say no to a beer.” The former Butler also said that the King eats a mix of traditional and modern food, some of which is grown in the gardens of his royal homes. He told Express: “He does champion traditional food and modern food. “He loves vegetables and he has a vegetable garden at Highgrove. Vegetables are always on the menu. “If he was going to have a snack, he is not going to be sitting there having a packet of crisps.” The revelation comes after it was confirmed that King Charles now eats lunch, something he had never done before. According to various sources, the King enjoys half an avocado to keep his strengths up. The former Butler also said that while members of the family could enjoy food such as a burger, it is likely that they would eat it with a knife and fork, apart from Prince Harry who would be most likely to “pick it up” with his hands. The insight from Grant Harrold comes as Greene King conducts wider research into the nation’s burger-eating habits to celebrate the launch of its new from £10 beer and burger deal, available at 645 sites until 28th October. Grant says that despite common convention, it’s in fact “proper etiquette” to use a knife and fork when eating a burger and that using utensils ensures “pristine presentation, cleanliness, better table manners”, something he learnt while working with the Royal Family.
