Silent Hill 2 remake early access release date, time, pre-load, file size and PS5 discount | Gaming | Entertainment

Silent Hill 2 fans are counting down to the early access release date. While the game doesn't officially launch until October 8, Silent Hill 2 Deluxe Edition pre-order customers can start playing 48-hours early. Indeed, the Silent Hill 2 Remake Deluxe Edition has an October 6 release date on PS5 and PC. Based on the global launch times for the regular edition of the game, UK customers can start playing at midnight BST UK time on PS5, and 5am BST UK time on Steam. Of course, the Deluxe Edition costs extra, retailing for £69.99 on PlayStation and PC. Fortunately, however, you can get the game for just £62.99 by purchasing discounted PlayStation Credit from CD Keys below.

After purchasing a top-up card from CD Keys, the retailer will send you a link with the code that can redeemed on the PlayStation Store.

Once you've added the credit to your PlayStation account, you can pick up the £69.99 Deluxe Edition of the game, having only actually spent £62.99.

In addition to 48-hours early access beginning at midnight on October 6, the Digital Deluxe Edition comes with a digital artbook and soundtrack.

That's on top of a smattering of in-game items, including a Pyramid Head Mask, Robbie the Rabbit Mask and Mira the Dog Mask.

To ensure you can start playing the moment the game goes live, Silent Hill 2 pre-order customers can pre-load the game ahead of launch.

The game weighs in at around 50GB on PlayStation 5, so pre-loading will definitely save you some time, especially if you have slower internet.

Judging by the early reviews, the Silent Hill 2 Remake was definitely worth waiting for. The game is currently sitting pretty with an 87% score on Metacritic.

It's been described as the best horror game of the year, retaining everything that made the original so great, all the while modernising the dated controls and combat.

The Silent Hill 2 remake benefits from enhanced visuals and sound, as well as various other quality of life improvements.

It also adopts the popular over-the-shoulder gameplay style popularised by fellow survival horror games like Resident Evil 4.

Indeed, the combat system has been updated with new moves such as the ability to dodge attacks and aim down sights.

While Bloober Team has been keen to retain the spirit of the original and not change too much, fans can also explore new locations and buildings that were previously inaccessible.

"Enjoy the same acclaimed story, even while you experience the town of Silent Hill with fresh eyes across an expanded map," the company explains.
