M&S issues urgent do not eat on popular soup over fears food contains metal

Marks & Spencer is recalling its M&S Smooth Butternut Squash soup and has urged customers not to consume the item.

This is because it may contain small pieces of metal which makes it unsafe to eat.

In a statement, the supermarket said: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer, and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously.”

The company said there is a potential presence of small traces of metal in a few packs.

Anyone with the soup in their fridge should not eat the food and return it immediately.
