Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns release date, time, price, money saving tip and pre-load | Gaming | Entertainment

Mortal Kombat 1 fans are counting down to the release of the hotly anticipated Khaos Reigns expansion, which adds new story content, characters and additional features. The Khaos Reigns DLC has a September 24 release date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC. According to the timer on the PlayStation Store, the expansion will have a 4pm BST UK launch time. If you want to start playing the moment the clock strikes 4pm, then pre-order customers can actually pre-load the game ahead of launch. The expansion reportedly weighs in at around 15GB on PlayStation, so it shouldn't take too long to download it all. Khaos Reigns costs £39.99, although you can actually pick up the expansion for less than the official asking price by purchasing a £40 PlayStation Store card for just £35.99 from CD Keys.

After purchasing a top-up card from CD Keys, the retailer will send you a link with the code that can redeemed on the PlayStation Store.

If you had your eye on other PlayStation 4 or PS5 games, then you can save even more money by purchasing more expensive store cards, including £100 of PlayStation credit for £88.99.

The headline new feature for Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns is a new story campaign.

Warner explains more: "When a perilous threat arrives from an alternate timeline, led by the ruthless Titan Havik whose sole mission is to throw the realms into khaos, Liu Kang must rally his champions and put faith in his enemies to defeat this grave danger.

"If they fail, the New Era will be reduced to anarchy."

In addition to new story content, Khaos Reigns launches with the Kombat Pack 2, which adds Noob Saibot, Cyrax and Sektor at launch.

Kombat Pack 2 also includes three guest fighters, which will be available at some point in the future. This includes Ghostface from Scream, T-1000 from Terminator 2 Judgement Day, and Conan the Barbarian.

With Arnold Schwarzenegger lending his likeness to the character of Conan the Barbarian, this means you can pit Arnie's Conan against the T-1000.

It's worth pointing out that pre-order customers will receive four bonus skins for existing characters, including Wedding Scorpion, Mortal Kombat 3 Sub-Zero, Empress Mileena and the Classic Ninja Skin.

Even if you don't pick up the Khaos Reigns expansion right away, existing MK1 owners will receive a few bonuses via a free update.

This includes the previously released free MK 95 Scorpion character skin, which is inspired by the classic Mortal Kombat movie from the 1990s.

However, it's the return of Animalities that long-time Mortal Kombat fans are really excited about.

Available as a free update for all Mortal Kombat 1 users on September 24, Animalities are finishing moves in which characters transform into animals and violently destroy fallen foes.

As you can see from the video above, Johnny Cage's Animality is inspired by the movie Jaws.

Daily Express will be back with a full list of new Fatality and Animality inputs when Khaos Reigns launches later this week.
