I tried a new Terry's Chocolate Orange flavour and it was so nostalgic

Terry's has introduced a new flavour to its iconic Chocolate Orange lineup that has both intrigued and divided chocolate enthusiasts.

This time, the beloved chocolatier has opted for a plain milk chocolate version, but does this new offering live up to the high standards set by its flagship product? I put it to the test to find out and was pleasantly surprised by my discovery.

Upon unwrapping the iconic orange-shaped foil, the familiar ritual of cracking the chocolate ball remains unchanged.

And as per the advert, I followed the slogan instructions: "Don't tap it, whack it!". With that, the orange split open like a lotus, revealing 20 rich, creamy milk chocolate segments.

The experience is as satisfying as ever, maintaining the playful tradition that Terry's fans have come to love.

The new plain milk chocolate version is a departure from the traditional citrus-infused treat, aiming to cater to those with a simpler palate. And the first thing you'll notice about this new flavour is its striking resemblance to the chocolates found in Christmas advent calendars.

The creamy milk chocolate is smooth and sweet, evoking a sense of nostalgia that I can only liken to eating an advent chocolate on a wintery morning.

It's a comforting, familiar taste that many will find irresistibly moreish. However, the flavour is also where opinions may diverge.

The plain milk chocolate is undeniably sweet, with a quality to it that isn't quite matched to other offerings in the range; namely the iconic orange and mint versions.

But for those with a plain palate, this new flavour is a dream come true. It's uncomplicated and straightforward, allowing the quality of the milk chocolate to shine through without any competing flavours. However, for die-hard fans of the original Chocolate Orange, the absence of the signature citrus notes might be a bit of a letdown.

As to how it compares to other flavours in Terry's lineup, I'd argue that it doesn't quite dethrone the reigning champion: the mint-flavoured Chocolate Orange. With its refreshing spearmint notes, the formula offers a unique twist that perfectly complements the rich chocolate.

The new milk chocolate flavour competes with the Terry's Dark Chocolate Orange, Terry's White Chocolate Orange, the original Chocolate Orange, and of course a range of minis. Flavours of Minis include Orange, Exploding Candy, and Mint Crisp.

Though it's not their best product yet, Terry's has once again proven its ability to innovate and delight, even if this latest offering might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Whether you're a fan of the new plain milk chocolate or prefer the classic orange or mint flavours, there's no denying that Terry's Chocolate Orange continues to be a beloved staple in the world of confectionery.

And it's easy to get hold of too, with all major retailers selling the chocolatey delights. Most full-size products retailer for £1.50-£1.75.
