A man claims you can drink coffee and tea all day long while only boiling your kettle once.

The money saving guru, known as costoflivingcrisistips on TikTok, recently shared the hack to help people save a few pennies. All you need to do is plan your day effectively.

He said, if you boil the kettle at the start of the day, it can actually last longer than you think. He showed what he means by placing three tea bags in a pot and allowing it to brew for a few minutes.

Then he simply uses the fresh pot of tea to fill up the flask, and this provides him with brews "all day". The expert said it's a great way to save on bills, and it takes minimum effort.

Naturally, you could also fill up your flask with coffee if you prefer. What a simple way to cut back on energy.

The video has been liked hundreds of times since it was shared, and people seem pretty impressed with it. Some weren't so sure though.

One person said: "Good idea." Another seemed unsure, writing: "It can't save more than a few pounds a day."

A third offered a different suggestion, adding: "Or only boil the amount of water you actually need and save just as much."

Meanwhile, another was keen to share their concerns for the state of the country, chiming in with: "Absolute joke that this even happens in this day and age."

If you're looking for other ways to save money while heating water, a cheaper and more effective boiling method is to heat the water on a gas hob. This is because gas usually costs less than electricity.

You can also snap up energy-saving kettles that are quick to boil and use less energy than most ordinary kettles. Other than that there are also some basic tricks you can try and implement day-to-day.

These include only adding how much water you need to the kettle, ensuring you have the right size kettle for how many people you're catering for and avoiding boiling it if you don't need to.

It's also advised you use the hot water straight away to make sure nothing is wasted when the water is at its hottest.
