Prince Harry's clue he planned to write book years before release | Royal | NewsThe Duke of Sussex's memoir made for explosive headlines when it was first published in January 2023, but it seems Prince Harry planned to write the book years before its release. From accounts of cocaine use and claiming to have killed 25 Taliban militants while serving in the British Army, ‘Spare’ exposes raw details about Harry. Some royal family members were not painted in the best light in Harry's book. The Duke of Sussex claimed that William and his then-girlfriend Kate Middleton encouraged him to dress up in a Nazi uniform for a fancy dress party, an outfit that would draw extreme criticism. Other accusations that rocked the Royal Family included revelations that Harry was physically attacked by his brother, William as their relationship fell apart over the younger prince's marriage to the American actress, Meghan Markle. He also delved into how he was against Charles marrying Camilla and he thought of her as the "wicked stepmother" at the time. While it was explosive it was the best selling book in the United Kingdom for last year. According to The Bookseller, Harry's memoir sold more than 700,000 copies. This was about 180,000 more than the second best selling book, The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman. But it appears Harry may have been thinking about writing the book long before it was released. In the 'Daily Mail Royals' YouTube video uploaded on September 5, the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English recalls a conversation with Harry years ago where he admitted reading every article about himself. Rebecca branded Harry "obsessed" with his public image in Britain and suggestd that he had planned the content for 'Spare' years prior to its release. In the video which has over 160,000 views already Rebecca explains: "I remember him doing this gesture to me about writing in a book but I think he was suggesting it mentally, make notes of who wrote it who said what about him. I remember saying to him why do you do that, and he said 'oh I even read all those magazines you find in the supermarkets' and I was like that way madness lies, just don't go down that road." More recently Penguin Random House has revealed that the release of Prince Harry's memoir Spare in paperback will not be any different from the hardback version. The Royal Family will likely breathe a sigh of relief as the paperback version will not contain any new bombshells from King Charles's reign. The paperback version is set to be released in the US on October 22, becoming available in the UK just two days later. The release will, however, clash with the King's high-profile appearance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. The meeting will take place between October 21 and 25. But before th new book release Prince Harry is set to live up to his party animal reputation next week at his upcoming birthday bash. According to expert sources, the prince is going to have a huge birthday party in California to celebrate his 40th on September 15, with his wife Meghan Markle at the centre, along with their two children Archie and Lilibet. A number of the couple's A lister friends are set to attend, however sources have said it is highly unlikely anyone from the Royal Family will fly across the pond to join in.
