These Samsung phones should get Android 15 - is yours on the list?

Samsung phones are incredibly popular as they are available globally and are sold for many different price points. This means you can get a real smartphone bargain but also spend thousands on the latest pocket-sized gadget.

No matter how much your Samsung phone cost, you might be wondering when it might next get a big free software update. The company offers seven years of software support for its latest flagship Galaxy S24 phones to take you to 2031, but when it comes to the latest Android 15 version release, there should be a fair few handsets that will benefit.

Android 15 is the latest flavour of mobile software from Google, but Android manufacturers such as Samsung can take the updates and release it for their own phones. This means a different look depending on the phone you have, but the basic Android software underneath is the same.

Unusually, Google has released its new Pixel smartphones two months earlier than normal - so the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro phones are getting into customers’ hands without Android 15 on them. Most years, the new Pixel phones come out at the same time as the annual release of a new version of Android.

By October, we expect to see Android 15 being pushed out as a free software download to millions of phones worldwide, many of which will be Samsung devices. Though the Korean firm has not yet confirmed which phones will be getting the official update - which is called One UI 7.0 for Samsung phones - the folks over at SamMobile have published a definitive list of phones they are all but certain will get Android 15 soon.

The list is quite long as Samsung sells so many phones at different prices, and because the tech firm has chosen to support even its cheaper handsets for longer with software updates for several years.

Here is the full list of Samsung phones expected to get Android 15 in the coming months:

  • Galaxy Tab S8 (Wi-Fi/5G)

The more expensive and most recently released devices will get One UI 7.0 first, probably starting in October when Google is expected to push out Android 15 to Pixel phones.

Android 15 won’t bring many big new changes to your phone but Samsung may use it as an excuse to give things a bit of a lick of paint. Smartphones are so advanced these days that it’s unusual for a software update to change much, but Android 15 will bring Private Space where you can hide apps, malicious app blocking, camera improvements on certain phones, and the ability to add any loyalty card to Google Wallet using a photo.
