Flight attendant reveals dirtiest items to avoid in hotel

A flight attendant's TikTok video is going viral after she revealed some of the dirtiest travel practices that most people overlook.

Cher Dallas, with five years of experience in the airline industry, shared her candid thoughts on hotel and airport hygiene, highlighting everything from unwashed hotel throw pillows to questionable public microwaves.

Her insights are prompting many travellers to rethink their habits.

One of Dallas's biggest concerns is hotel throw pillows.

"Even in an election season, we can all agree that hotel throw pillows are disgusting," she said.

According to her, these pillows rarely get cleaned after each guest, and she’s sceptical about whether people remove them before sleeping.

"I don't trust people to take it off the bed before they sleep on it, just based on how people behave on the aeroplane."

She also expressed her disdain for travellers who unpack their suitcases directly on the bed.

Dallas pointed out that suitcases are often stored in overhead bins on planes, which she describes as "gross," and unpacking them on hotel beds is a hygiene faux pas.

"If you're putting your suitcase on your bed to unpack it, you're really filthy," she remarked.

Dallas didn't stop there. She also highlighted the extra chair often found in hotel rooms, which she finds particularly unsettling.

"I just will never trust people," she said, referencing a scene from the film Oppenheimer that underscored her discomfort with hotel room chairs.

She stressed that these chairs are unlikely to be steam cleaned between guests.

Her list continued with airport bathrooms, which she finds more repulsive than airplane lavatories.

"I feel like eight times out of 10, the state of the airport bathroom is always worse than any state I've seen the lav in," Dallas noted.

Surprisingly, she also has an aversion to community microwaves in hotels.

"I don’t know what it is about it, because it’s probably not like people are microwaving rotten food, but in my mind, they are," she admitted.

Dallas revealed that she often opts to eat her food cold if her hotel room lacks a private microwave.

Lastly, Dallas touched on hotel shuttle services, particularly in beach towns.

"The seats on the hotel shuttle don’t always gross me out, but it really does when it’s a beach town because I know they probably picked up wet sandy people that have sat there," she explained.

“I was just in a hotel van in Atlantic city and I actually almost threw up. It was horrible.”
