Raheem Sterling's stance on Man Utd transfer as Chelsea set 'meeting' | Football | SportAs a result, United want to wash their hands with the £73million man, who joined the club just three seasons ago. Hopes of getting the swap deal across the line could be made easier by the fact Sterling is open to making the switch from west London to Old Trafford. That’s according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, who claims the winger wouldn’t turn down a move to United if it materialises, but also recognises there is still a long way to go before a deal can be struck. What’s more, Sterling isn’t believed to have engaged in any discussions with other clubs yet either. The report also suggests Sterling and Chelsea are set for internal talks in the coming days as the club looks to finalise an exit plan for the 29-year-old. United could have a secret weapon in their bid to snatch Sterling though, given he’s spoken publicly about his love for the club in the past. Despite having turned out for United’s two biggest rivals, City and Liverpool, Sterling has previously admitted he was a Red Devils fan growing up. Speaking to the Daily Mirror in 2019, he commented: "I shouldn't really say this - not now, definitely not now! - but when I was young I was a massive United fan. "I had an old United kit, from when they won the last FA Cup. I was at the final in 2007. "If two or three of the kids could be inspired, then that's all I was trying to do. Purely, that's how I felt at the time. "If there was a kid who had a chance of being a footballer, hopefully that will give them motivation or inspiration to change their dreams." Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022 for £50million and has made 81 appearances since. Source link Posted: 2024-08-26 12:36:24 |
