Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa pocket £192k for pre-US Open 'date night' | Tennis | SportStefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa enjoyed their most lucrative date night yet ahead of the US Open. The tennis power couple took part in the Mixed Madness event at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Centre, beating the likes of Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton to lift the trophy. Although it was only an exhibition, ‘Tsitsidosa’ took home £192,000 ($250,000) for their efforts after winning two matches. Badosa got straight back to winning ways after a successful North American hard-court swing. The Spaniard lifted the title in Washington and reached the semi-final of the recent WTA 1000 in Cincinnati. She teamed up with her boyfriend Tsitsipas for one of several exhibition tournaments being held at the US Open grounds in the build-up to the final Grand Slam of the year. The couple defeated the pairing of Gauff and Shelton in their first match on Tuesday night. They met Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz in the final after the Americans beat Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios. The chemistry between Tsitsidosa proved crucial and they got their hands on the trophy and a sizeable prize money cheque. ATP world No. 11 Tsitsipas later said: “I would say this is like a tennis date. A mixed doubles match at Arthur Ashe Stadium is probably one of the coolest dates I could have asked for. I'm super grateful that we were able to produce good tennis but also in combination with having a good time. “To be able to share that with that special person that you spend most of your life with is - What a great night.” Badosa echoed her partner’s sentiment as she celebrated their win on Instagram. “Best date night ever,” she wrote.
