Erik ten Hag drops clear Man Utd transfer hint after Roy Keane puts him on the spot | Football | Sport

Erik ten Hag was quick to insist that Manchester United 'cannot stand still' when discussing his transfer plans with Roy Keane ahead of Friday's game against Fulham. The Dutchman has already welcomed a host of new faces to his squad in preparation for his third season in charge of the Red Devils.

United have spent over £140million on the signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui since the start of the window. They have been tipped to follow up by striking a few more deals before the all-important deadline at the end of the month.

Ten Hag appeared on Sky Sports before kick-off against Fulham and was put on the spot by Keane, who asked him whether he was planning on making any more signings. His response was telling as the United boss hinted that more players could arrive at Old Trafford over the coming weeks.

"We cannot stand still, but also it depends on what happens in the market," replied Ten Hag. "I'm happy with the squad and when we have this squad I am quite confident going into the new season."

United have been linked with a number of exciting deals following the arrivals of De Ligt and Nazraoui earlier this week. They are still believed to be chasing a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is reportedly keen on joining the Red Devils.

It was previously reported that United had walked away from negotiations after failing to reach a compromise with PSG over a transfer fee. That is no longer believed to be the case, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Ugarte's agent Jorge Mendes flew to England on Tuesday for additional talks.

United have also been credited with an interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, with El Comercio reporting they are 'determined' to get a deal done. However, the Red Devils are likely to face stiff competition for his signature with Liverpool and Tottenham also thought to be keen.

Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu is said to be another target for United despite being heavily linked with a move to Brighton. United have already seen an opening bid rejected for the 24-year-old but are preparing to increase their offer in the coming days, according to Fotospor.
