Man Utd line up Ederson transfer as 'constant talks' held over £51m star | Football | SportManchester United have reportedly held discussions over a possible £51million transfer for Ederson as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad with one more signing before the summer transfer window closes. The Red Devils have been locked in talks with PSG over a potential deal for Manuel Ugarte. However, the two parties are yet to find an agreement on a fee, with the Ligue 1 champions holding out for £40m. It is reported United could decide to move on from Ugarte if they cannot strike a deal with PSG and pursue Ederson, who currently plays for Serie A outfit Atalanta. According to AS, United are one of several clubs who have enquired about the Brazilian and have been in 'constant talks' with his club. Atalanta are reluctant to let the 25-year-old leave, however, and have slapped a £51m (€60m) asking price above his head to ward off potential suitors. The Italian outfit are set to sell Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus in a big-money transfer and, while they are renowned for moving on players for high fees, Ederson will only leave if their demands are met. It is also stated in the report that United will only step up their efforts to sign Ederson if their 'operation' for Ugarte ends without success. Ederson made 36 Serie A appearances last season and scored six goals. He also missed just one game en route to their Europa League success, excelling in the final against Bayer Leverkusen. United could face competition from Liverpool, who recently missed out on defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi and are yet to make a signing this summer under new boss Arne Slot. Ederson had been linked earlier this summer but the Reds are yet to follow up with any concrete bid. When asked about a possible move away from the Bergamo club in June before heading off to the Copa America with Brazil, Ederson admitted he would consider his future but only after the tournament. “It always happens when the market opens, that all the speculation comes,” he told AS. “Not only about my future, but also for many players. “When I received my call-up, I told my wife and my agents: 'Look, now I'm going to the national team, so you have to deal with what comes and what doesn't come'. "Now I'm going to focus on the national team, it's my first call-up, so my head has to be one hundred per cent there. And then I will think about my future. I am very happy at Atalanta. I’ve just won a great title, I’m very well integrated." Source link Posted: 2024-08-16 18:37:18 |
