Ricky Gervais, 63, is an English comedian who has won several BAFTA awards, British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards.

Over the years, the actor has become known for his dry, sometimes dark humour and is now one of the most famous comedians in the world.

Gervais was born and grew up in Reading, Berkshire and attended University College London (UCL) in 1980.
