Couple transforms 'ugliest house on the street' into dream

A homeowner's extraordinary revamp of his previously "ugly" house into a picture-perfect abode has left social media users in awe.

In today's economic climate, home ownership remains an unattainable dream for many blossoming young professionals, couples, and families. And when you finally manage to squirrel away enough savings to purchase a property, it often requires a significant makeover.

However, thanks to social media, there's no shortage of easy and cost-effective home renovation tips to give your home a fresh new look without breaking your budget.

Ash Mazzina, from London, has been wowing the internet with his comprehensive renovation journey. Alongside his partner, he bought a Victorian home and set about converting it into a thing of beauty Over the past two years, the couple undertook the monumental task of tearing down walls, altering foundations, and refining their stylish interior.

Posting on TikTok about his DIY home makeover, Ash quipped: "This is your sign to buy the ugliest house on the street and make it your dream home."

Further detailing their venture, he explained: "After months of viewing houses, making offers but never winning, we finally found our house. We didn't love the house when we started but we could see the potential.

"Two years into renovating this Victorian House in London, and it's no longer the ugliest house on the street, but our beautiful home."

Ash, a passionate homeowner, revealed that when he first bought his house it was "beige" and lacked character. He commented: "When we bought our house, we had just moved from a new build flat and I guess we were used to having white walls and minimalist designs.

"The one piece of advice I could give to anyone designing their home is to just go with your gut. I always dreamt of adding colour and depth to spaces, and every time I've loved the end result."

He also shared that the most common question he gets asked is about how he managed to change the exterior of his home. The transformation set him back £3,000 to revert the bricks to their original state.

He explained: "The first step was to remove the pebble dash. Use a multitool to remove the surface of the pebble dash from the brick, remove the old pointing, then lightly sand bricks - at this point if you find any broken bricks you can repair them with lime water or repair them with actual bricks."

Ash has gained over two million likes on his TikTok page @ashmazzina and boasts 85,700 followers on Instagram. Thousands have been sharing their thoughts, praising the property's unique charm.

One user commented: "Thank god this isn't one of those turning everything white and bland." Another added: "Impeccable taste. I love how you returned to exposed brick. I know it must've been quite expensive so on behalf of all brick lovers I salute you."

"Well done, it looks warm and inviting and lovely," applauded another fan. Another comment read: "Thank you for actually making it a dream home with personality and charm and colour and not a soulless white box. It's stunning! ".

Adding to the praise was a user who remarked: "Wow you literally breathed life back into this house, so beautiful."
