Homemade sorbet: I used a juicer to make a simple 3-ingredient recipe

Sorbets are an all-time summer classic, so stocking them in the freezer during these months is a must for some of us.

That’s why I thought I’d try my hand at making my own banana and berry sorbet, using a powerful product I’d been sent for review.

Somewhat surprisingly, it was much easier and uncomplicated to make than I first thought, and the most difficult part was waiting.

What didn’t shock me in the slightest is that this delicious frozen treat tasted a lot better, fresher and less sickly than its store-bought counterparts.

I’d particularly recommend giving this recipe a go if you have a blender or a powerful juicer on hand and are happy to experiment with the ingredients, as the possibilities are countless.

Ingredients:

Two or three bananas

Handful of strawberries

Handful of blueberries

Instructions

Prepare the ingredients and freeze at least overnight. I froze them for around 18-20 hours and the consistency turned out great.

When taking out of the freezer, leave them for five or 10 minutes to thaw and soften ever so slightly, making sure you keep an eye on it, especially if it's warm outside.

It's important not to overdo this step, as it can give your sorbet a different consistency, which is always down to preference, but I prefer mine smooth but quite thick.

Then, feed the ingredients through your juicer, I used a homogenising screen to create an even and scoopable texture.

For this recipe, I was a bit of a cheat, as I used the Sana 929 Ultimate Juicer, a powerful extractor that does so much more than just juicing. Perhaps one of the most versatile and complete appliances I've gotten my hands on, this sturdy tool is capable of producing smooth juices, nut oils and milks and ice cream in the blink of an eye. With this in mind, it was no surprise how smooth the end result was, and more importantly, how clean everything looked afterward (I was indeed expecting a splattery mess).

While the Sana 929 is a top-of-the-range beast and a food lover's dream, it does come with a hefty price tag - £1,345 from UK Juicers.

For those looking for a more affordable option, Amazon has juicers with prices as low as £31.38.
