Real reason Prince Harry and Meghan are scheduling 'royal tours' abroad - expert | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up for a tour around Colombia, travelling to the country's capital, Bogota, and the coastal areas later this year.

It comes after the Duke and Duchess received an invite from the country’s vice president Francia Marquez who has plans for the couple to "experience the rich heritage of Colombia".

Royal commentator and podcast host, Kinsey Schofield, believes the duo are trying to "turn their brand around". Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she said: "These two have to leave the country to prove that someone out there takes them seriously. If they can execute numerous fake royal tours with the glossy images and staged videos, they are hoping to turn their brand around."

Referencing their earlier bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Kinsey added: "They want the love and respect they had prior to the Oprah Winfrey interview but continue to shoot themselves in the foot. The public are tired of the pair."

The Sussexes’ trip to Colombia will be their second official tour of the year after they visited Nigeria in May taking part in a range of activities over three days. The trip was deemed an overriding success.

Details of the couple’s Colombian itinerary have not been released by the Archewell Foundation, their charitable body, but the vice president said they would "engage in several activities" related to safeguarding young people online and in physical spaces.

Kinsey believes Harry and Meghan want to be considered as experts in the field. She explained: "Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying desperately to be taken seriously as thought leaders. They will travel, no matter what the security concerns are, to any country willing to give them a platform, cater to their ego, and pander to the narrative they're trying to create."

Currently, both the UK and US governments warn tourists to "reconsider" travel to the region due to the risk of terrorism and kidnapping. Official UK government advice states: "There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets."

The visit was announced despite Harry repeatedly claiming he feels the UK is too dangerous for him to visit with his family.
