Hot weather maps turn red as UK to be hit by second heat bomb | Weather | NewsBrits are set to swelter twice in quick succession as new weather maps reveal temperatures could soar above 30C, with the scorching conditions persisting into the next day. The hottest of the conditions on Monday will be found in the south-east, with London and the Home Counties seeing the mercury climb north of 30C. Essex, Hertfordshire, and Cambridgeshire could see 33C, while the capital will reach 31C, according to weather maps from WXCharts. The south-west of the country is set to be cooler, with temperature highs in the 20s. Elsewhere, north-west of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland will fall just below 20C in some places. Tuesday will also see warm weather, and once again the south-east will see the hottest conditions. The Kent coast should see temperatures of around 26C, while London will also bake with temperatures just a degree or two lower. Thursday will see hot conditions too, with the Midlands, as well as the south-east, seeing highs soaring to above 25C. It is a similar pattern around the north-west, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, however, with temperatures far lower than in the south of England. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Dan Holley, said: "We expect to see a relatively brief hotter and more humid spell of weather for Sunday and Monday, before these hotter conditions recede on Tuesday, allowing more unsettled conditions to return. "This change to hotter conditions is caused, in part, by the effects of Tropical Storm Debby in North America. Debby is helping to strengthen the jet stream, causing it to meander over the Atlantic. This will allow hot air over France to move into the UK later this weekend, and early next week." Met Office short-term forecastThis Evening and Tonight:There will be showers across northern and western Scotland. It will be clearer elsewhere although cloud and patchy rain will move across western areas overnight. It will remain breezy in the north and later in the far southwest. Saturday:Throughout the day, cloud and patchy rain across England and Wales will eventually lift, but some areas in the south will remain cloudy. Further north it will be brighter with scattered showers. Cloud and patchy rain across England and Wales will gradually lift and break as the day progresses, though some southern areas will stay cloudy. Brighter further north with scattered showers. Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:Both days will see sunny spells, although the Met Office has warned the hot and humid conditions could spark heavy rain and thunderstorms. From Tuesday onwards, it will gradually become more unsettled and cooler. Source link Posted: 2024-08-09 17:28:17 |
