Now is perhaps more famous for its Now TV packages that allow you to sign up to Sky Sports or Sky Cinema on a monthly rolling basis and stream content to your devices, rather than sign up for a Sky contract and require a satellite dish.

Now Broadband offers similar internet packages to its parent company Sky, but it has just this week launched a service called Full Fibre 300, an offering Sky also offers under the same name.

Now’s package offers 298 - 314 Mb/s download speeds, 39 - 47 Mb/s upload speeds, and a ‘Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee’ that promises coverage in every room or your money back. It costs £31 per month.

While the firm says this fibre package is available in 49 percent of UK homes, it is not available for this writer based in London. You can click here to check which plans you can get at your home address.

Sky meanwhile is offering the Full Fibre 300 package for £40 per month. That means if you are on the lookout for a new package, you could save £9 by ditching Sky for, well, Sky - given it owns Now.

If you’re an existing Sky customer you may well be paying even more than the £40 new customers can get a broadband package for. If you want to save, you can cancel your contract (check first if this will incur any fees) and then sign up to a new Now Broadband service at £31, potentially saving you even more.

The saving of £9 per month on the current Sky price equates to £216 saved over 24 months, which is the contract length, plus Now is currently waiving the usual £10 activation fee and £9.95 delivery fee to save you even more.

If you have Sky Broadband currently then you will be able to get Now Broadband, as they are the same company providing services to the same areas, but be sure to check if you can get the new Full Fibre 300 deal from Now first.

There could be even cheaper ways to save money on your broadband or to get a better service. Providers such as Community Fibre offer 1Gbps speeds - more than three times faster than 300Mbps - for less than £30 per month, but the firm only covers London and some other areas. Be sure to shop around before signing up to any long contract, and always read the terms and conditions to avoid any nasty billing surprises.
