Monty Don shares the two foods he eats for breakfast almost every dayMonty Don is the UK’s leading garden writer and broadcaster, renowned for his gorgeous countryside home in Herefordshire. Used as the location for countless Gardener's World episodes, Monty has given the nation insight into his home for many years, including his impressive array of homegrown produce. From leafy vegetables to sweet fruits, his Longmeadow garden is where the esteemed horticulturalist heads to pluck delicious ingredients for cooking. The gardening extraordinaire previously revealed his simple breakfast habits which include a tranquil morning routine and sweet combination of fresh fruit and yoghurt. In a previous interview with The Times, Monty disclosed that he "always wakes early, with the light", and kick-starts his day with a pint of hot water from the Aga. Following a 30-minute outdoor yoga session, the 69-year-old indulges in a scrumptious breakfast featuring fresh rhubarb. As a self-proclaimed morning person, breakfast is the highlight of Monty's day. The Gardener's World host enjoys a diverse array of ingredients for his morning meal, two of which make up the ultimate dish. During an episode of his BBC One show, Monty revealed: "I think rhubarb just lightly stewed with yogurt, is a breakfast of Gods." But that's not all. Monty's breakfast spread wouldn't be complete without additional homegrown produce. In a previous interview with The Times, Monty stated: "I really enjoy breakfast and often have yoghurt with fruit from the garden and honey from our bees. "Or I might have eggs from our chickens with homegrown chillies. I have lots of strong tea - I'm perfectly happy with PG Tips." The renowned British gardener, a marmalade enthusiast, often opts for toast with the citrusy spread, but he avoids gluten. Post breakfast, Monty relishes his time in his expansive garden that stretches across several acres. The host of Gardeners' World disclosed that like many, he takes a mid-morning break around 11am, particularly on days when he is filming for the BBC show, to enjoy a cup of coffee. Monty stated that this is his "single cup of coffee a day", emphasising that he likes it "large and strong". It's a far cry from indulgent pancakes or a greasy fry-up, which are British favourites, but Monty's breakfast habits are aligned with fellow gardening aficionado, Alan Titchmarsh. Divulging his early-morning diet in a Gardener's World magazine, Alan revealed that he avoids popular breakfast dishes like avocado on toast and prefers a bowl of Shreddies or Weetabix. Speaking previously to the Telegraph, the gardener shared that he also enjoys some eggs from his pet chickens: “My reward is a fresh egg for breakfast every day, should I so wish, except from October to January when they go off lay", said Alan.
