EE customers get surprise free access to premium TV channels from tomorrowEE has announced it is giving all its EE TV customers free access to several Eurosport channels at no extra cost that will allow them to tune into the Olympic Games in Paris. No matter what plan you are already on, until 12 August EE will give you free access to Eurosport channels 1 to 9, allowing you to tune into the majority of the international action from the Games. All EE TV customers have been given free access to the Discovery+ app via their set top box and are being promised round-the-clock coverage of the Olympics, which amounts to more than 3,800 hours and more than 55 live event feeds across all 19 days of the event. EE said that all its Discovery+ Basic customers will be given access to Discovery+ Standard, which also opens access to Eurosport, but any customer will also be able to view any Eurosport channel, and any in HD if they are paying for the HD add-on. “EE TV customers on Entertainment and Big Entertainment get discovery+ Basic with their TV package and will have access to discovery+ Standard at no extra cost,” EE said in a press release. “Customers on EE TV Sport, Big Sport and Full Works plans can get discovery+ Premium, which also includes TNT Sports, with their TV package. In addition, EE TV customers on discovery+ Basic will also get access to the Eurosport linear channels for this period, which will broadcast wall-to-wall action across every day of competition.” The Olympic Games starts tomorrow, Friday 26 July, and runs until Sunday 11 August. Though the BBC has rights to air more than 250 hours of live Olympics events on BBC One and BBC Two with added streams available on BBC iPlayer, Eurosport has rights to the entirety of the Games, along with its streaming platform Discovery+. Eurosport is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. You can tune into all Eurosport channels’ linear broadcast if you have them as part of your TV package no matter your provider. But streaming via Discovery+ opens up more interactive viewing options such as timeline markers to show you the progress of events and letting viewers navigate back to watch key moments. The platform will also send out ‘gold medal alerts’ to inform you of a big moment coming up that you won’t want to miss, and sends you to the right place to see it all unfold. If you have EE TV you’ll be accessing all the Olympic action through your set top box or Apple TV device, but you can also watch all the events via the EE TV app on your smartphone or tablet.
