Remove limescale from taps in a 'few minutes' using easy bathroom itemIf you have noticed a white crust around your kitchen or bathroom taps, it's likely limescale. Over time, limescale builds up and forms a thick residue that is often white and chalky. One person who was struggling to remove limescale from her taps was Facebook user Sharon Bernans. Sharon Bernans asked the social media group 'Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips' for advice. She wrote: "How do you remove limescale from taps, please?" The most suggested solution was to use a bathroom cleaning product called Viakal. Irene White said: "Definitely Viakal. Let it soak in for a few minutes then use an old toothbrush and you will notice the difference. Good luck." Ryan Laffan and Louise Stay X agreed. Ryan simply wrote "Viakal" on the post while Louise posted a picture of the product and wrote, "Hi, try this, it's very good". Viakal can be bought online and from various supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Tesco for around £3. On the Tesco website, Viakal has received a rating of 4.8 out of five with many customers claiming the product is "fantastic". One customer wrote: "I used this product on the limescale around the shower and taps in the bathroom. It’s fantastic as it’s so easy to use, great results within a few minutes. Limescale is gone and the fittings are left shiny." Another wrote: "It's such an amazing product. Enough just to spray, wait a minute and wipe it. I couldn't believe it is working so fast without needing to scrub the surface. I recommend it to everyone." However, one person who purchased the product from Waitrose claimed it didn't work well in hard water areas. They wrote: "If you live in a hard water area this product is not the best. Doesn't even make a dent in the limescale build up around my taps and I find that there are better products out there on the market." Other tips for removing limescale from Mrs Hinch fans included using a 2p coin, white vinegar and a lemon. Natalie Hewitt said: "I saw a tip on here to use a 2p coin and very lightly rub it over the tap. A huge limescale deposit just came right off!" Dee French commented: "I zip a freezer bag around the tap with white vinegar in it works a treat." Mair Hudson posted: "Half a lemon in a bag. Tie bag to tap for 29 minutes."
