Spain holiday horror as British tourist plunges from hotel balcony | World | News

A British tourist has been rushed to hospital after plunging from his Majorcan hotel.

The holidaymaker was said to be "seriously injured" when paramedics took him away.

He was admitted to Son Espases Hospital in the island capital Palma. Medics there have yet to say what his current condition is.

The drama happened today just before 2pm at Pollentia Resort & Spa, a four-star boutique hotel in Puerto Pollensa.

The unnamed tourist is understood to have fallen around 15 feet and landed on his face.

Unconfirmed reports said police were investigating whether he was under the influence of alcohol when he went over the edge of his balcony in what is believed to have been an accident while he was arguing with someone on his mobile phone.

Local police employed by Alcudia Town Hall, which covers the Puerto Pollensa area, and two ambulances, were sent to the scene.

The hotel where the incident occurred, full name Hotel PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa, describes itself online as an ideal place for a perfect family holiday,.

It is an 85,000 square metre resort located between the bay of Pollensa and the Albufereta Natural Park.

It was not immediately clear this afternoon if the British man was on holiday with friends and family or was staying at the resort alone.
