Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper have been handed exciting paths at the US Open, with the draw taking place on Thursday. The two players will fly the flag for Great Britain in the final Grand Slam tournament of the year. They have been handed simple starts on paper, with the pair set to face qualifiers or lucky losers in their opening matches.

In the event Raducanu finds some form and gets through the first two rounds, she could face Elena Rybakina in round three. She will be hoping to mount a deep run at the tournament she won against all odds back in 2021. It will be her first Grand Slam under the watchful eye of Francisco Roig, her new coach who previously worked with Rafael Nadal.

Draper, meanwhile, could go up against Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals if he makes it through to the last eight. Sinner is currently battling illness but his coach Darren Cahill has insisted that he will be 'fine' for the US Open.

The draw was not as kind to some of the other Brits, with Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal both facing seeded players. Boulter will play Marta Kostyuk in her opening match while Kartal will go up against Beatriz Haddad Maia.

Cameron Norrie was also handed a tricky draw, with the 29-year-old set to face Sebastian Korda in the first round. Jacob Fearnley, meanwhile, will begin his campaign against Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut.

Sinner, the defending men's singles champion, was drawn against Czech underdog Vit Kopriva. The latter has never gone past the first round at Flushing Meadows, which suggests it will be a straightforward victory for his Italian opponent.

Carlos Alcaraz will go up against Reilly Opelka, the big-hitting American who stands at six feet and seven inches tall. He has been known to serve in excess of 140 miles per hour, meaning Alcaraz will need to be at his best to steer clear of an upset.

Novak Djokovic takes on Learner Tien, who made it to round four of this year's Australian Open with a string of impressive victories. Djokovic is on the same side of the draw as Fearnley, meaning they could meet further down the line.

In the women's competition, defending champion Aryna Sabalenkawill start her campaign against Swiss player Rebeka Masarova. Victoria Mboko, who recently won the Canadian Open, has been pitted against former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.

Coco Gauff has been handed a tough start against Ajla Tomljanovic, while Venus Williams will open her 25th appearance at the US Open against Karolina Muchova.

The singles tournament will begin on Sunday, with the order of play yet to be revealed. It follows the revamped mixed doubles competition, which ended on Thursday with Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori taking the trophy.
