Bedsheets stay clean and fresh for longer if you do a 10-second morning task

Nothing is better than falling into a bed with freshly washed sheets, and it turns out there is a really easy way to keep your bedding cleaner for a lot longer. Only 28% of Brits change their bedsheets regularly, as most people do not realise how quickly sweat can build up in the fabric in summer.  

Since these stains are invisible so most people do notice them, but it will cause moisture to become trapped which will allow bacteria, dust mites and even mould to fester in a bed. However, Wendy, the founder of Daisies and Pie, has shared there is a easy way to keep bedsheets clean without having to do any laundry, as you simply need to air dry them.

Wendy said: “So airing the bed is a thing, and it’s super simple to do and even if you only get the chance to air the bed for 30 minutes whilst you get ready for work – it’s worth it.” 

Air drying is a old-fashioned cleaning technique that helps keep sheets more hygienic as it reduces any moisture from the night so they are less likely to become sweaty. 

It does not require any effort, and do not worry you do not have to hang up your sheets or do much work first thing in the morning. 

This is a very simple way to keep your sheets clean if you struggle to do a bed wash weekly, and having a cleaner sleeping environment will make you feel more comfortable and rested when you wake up in the morning.

How to air dry bed sheets

All you need to do is open your bedroom windows as soon as you wake up in the morning. Next, fold your duvet and place it at the end of your bed so most of the sheet is exposed. 

Then, is all you have to do if leave the duvet off the sheets for as long as possible. Let the sheets air dry all day, or even just for a few minutes in the morning if you like to make your bed. 

Make sure to close your windows if you are going to work, but this technique is really easy and takes a few seconds but will result in a much comfier and cleaner bed.  

Duvets trap heat and moisture, and if sweat cannot evaporate properly then it will lead to your sheets becoming clammy even if you have just washed them.

Taking off your duvet improves the ventilation around your bed and allows the duvet to air out, which means lets it breathe so it will stay hygienic for a lot longer.
