Mean Girls enthusiasts will want to switch on their televisions tonight as the beloved film that devotees can recite word for word is available to watch tonight for free.
Mean Girls hit cinemas in 2004, and despite being released over twenty years ago, it continues to be enormously popular with audiences. Featuring sharp wit, the movie chronicles newcomer Cady Heron as she navigates a complicated social pecking order at her fresh American secondary school.
However, she quickly becomes embroiled in an ongoing feud between a clique of "mean girls" and two "misfits". With Lindsay Lohan portraying Cady, viewers also know Rachel McAdams as Regina George, Amanda Seyfried as Karen Smith and Lacey Chabert as Gretchen Wieners.
The picture will be broadcast on ITV2 and ITVX at 7pm this evening, Sunday, August 17. The uplifting movie comes after Mamma Mia which screens at 4.45pm.
Following the enormous popularity of the original Mean Girls picture in 2004, a follow-up arrived in 2011 but received poor reception, with the initial instalment staying a steadfast favourite amongst viewers, reports the Mirror.
Writing on Google reviews, one admirer commented: "Mean Girls (2004) is the best movie ever. I would recommend it to everyone in the world."
Another agreed: "Mean Girls is my all time favorite movie!".
A third added: "Mean girls (2004) has got to be one one of the most amazing movies ever, not only is it timeless but the movie itself is original. Lindsay Lohan did amazing and I couldn't have thought of a better actress to portray Regina George but Rachel McAdams."
