After days of hyping up his hopes for Friday’s historic summit between Russia and the US and expressing his desire for a meaningful ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, President Donald Trump was left carrying an ‘air of regret’ after he failed to secure the peace deal he had been adamant he could achieve.

During the summit, which too place in Anchorage, Alaska, both Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin sat down to discuss a potential cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, however after three hours of negotiations, the duo had reached a stalemate with several sticking points meaning that the duo could not secure a deal.

Even despite this setback however, Trump still lauded his meeting as ‘positive’ as he told reporters that a great deal of ‘progress’ had been made in bringing the three year conflict to an end.

Yet while the President may have told reporters that things had gone well, in his post-summit interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, his body language suggested the opposite, with one expert revealing that if anything his expression and mannerisms screamed ‘disappointment’.

"During the Hannity interview, Trump sports a 'hangdog' face. His downturned mouth, coupled with lowered eyelids, spell disappointment,” explained celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman.

Speaking on behalf of Oddspedia,  Inbaal continued: “Trump's puckered chin is pouty, signifying dismay. He seems to be thinking back and wondering what he could have done differently. “

His posture also revealed a hidden disappointment for how things had transpired, as Inbaal went on to add: “The leader of the free world is leaning forwards, stooped, as if carrying a great burden on his shoulders. His demeanour is that of a man who's made a deal that does not benefit him. There's an air of regret about his body language. “

And Trump is right to be upset too, as his highly anticipated meeting had been touted as the thing that would secure peace for Ukraine - something he himself had previously believed could be resolved within a matter of hours.

In fact, one of Trump’s election pledges had been to end the war within 24 hours of his inauguration, something he did admit on Friday, may have been woefully naive.

“I thought this would be the easiest of them all, and it was the most difficult,” Trump said during his Fox interview.

Despite the lack of a deal, he does still claim to be committed to securing peace, with conversations now due to take place with Putin, Zelensky and himself at a later date.

“They both want me there,” Trump told Hannity. “They both want me there, and I’ll be there.”
