Jadon Sancho is so keen to leave Manchester United for Roma this summer that he is ready to halve his salary demands, according to reports. The 25-year-old winger is the subject of a season-long loan offer from Roma, which would include an obligation to buy for £20million next summer.

Sancho remains exiled from Ruben Amorim's squad despite links to Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Besiktas in recent months, but an exit could now be on the horizon. While there was early scepticism about whether the £73m flop would welcome Roma's interest due to his eye-watering salary at Old Trafford, he is reportedly receptive to the move.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Sancho has given the Serie A giants his total approval after sporting director Frederic Massara made a play.

It's claimed that the England international is so keen to join Roma that he has told intermediaries that he is willing to slash his desired wage.

Therefore, Roma are said to be considering a contract offer between £4.3m to £5.1m per year, plus bonuses, in the coming days.

The Giallorossi are set to generate around £35m from the sale of Manu Kone to Inter Milan, which would free up the budget to accommodate Sancho's arrival.

United would need to activate the 12-month extension in Sancho's contract to receive the £20m on the table.

His current deal expires next summer, which would leave him free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs in January.

But United would preserve his value by striking an agreement with Roma, which would result in a sale next year, rather than losing him as a free agent.

That said, the clause has meant very little when it comes to Sancho. Chelsea had an obligation to sign him for £25m at the end of his loan stint last season.

However, the Blues paid United a £5m fine to breach that clause after Sancho failed to set the world alight at Stamford Bridge.

Given the nature of his contract at Old Trafford, there will likely be some insurance in place to prevent Roma from doing the same.

With the new Premier League season set to begin this weekend, Sancho and United's other exiles will want to settle their futures sooner rather than later.

And Sancho's arrival in Italian football appears to be a safe bet before the deadline.
