During an appearance on the Rest Is Football podcast with Gary Lineker and Micah Richards, Rashford said: "At times I feel like United has been... we're hungry to win, so we will always try to adapt and sign players that fit this system, but it's reactionary. If your directions are always changing, you can't expect to win the league.
"You might win some cup tournaments, but it's because you have a good coach, good players and you have match winners in your team, you're not there by accident. This is what some people forget. Yeah we have been way lower than what people deem United to be, but if you take a step back, which I've been able to do, especially over the last six months, what do you expect?
"People say we have been in a transition for years. To be in a transition, you need to start a transition. It's like the actual transition has not started yet."
Drawing parallels with Jurgen Klopp's early days at Liverpool, Rashford said: "When Liverpool went through this with Klopp, they stuck with him. They didn't win anything in the beginning.
"People only remember his final few years when he was competing with City and winning the biggest trophies; they did not win anything at the beginning. To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it.
"This is where I want to speak about being realistic with what your situation is. I feel like we've had that many different managers and different ideas and different strategies in order to win, you end up in the middle of them, you end up in no man's land."
As was often the case during Rashford's time at Old Trafford, United have splashed the cash this summer. With Rashford now on loan at Barcelona and United also looking to offload Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, Amorim has primarily focused on bolstering his attack.
Nearly £200million has been forked out to bring in Matheus Cunha from Wolves, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Red Devils are also reportedly keen on Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, who is valued by the Seagulls at around £100m. United's season kicks off this weekend with a challenging home match against Arsenal, while Rashford could make his La Liga debut when Barcelona travel to face Mallorca on Saturday evening.
