It was eight years ago when Johnny Depp last starred as Jack Sparrow in a Pirates of the Caribbean blockbuster.

Yet a year later, Disney dropped him from the franchise after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, alleged domestic abuse, which he strongly denies.

Since then, the star has won a libel case against her and has been slowly making his Hollywood return.

Rumours have abounded that he could feature in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and now producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed just that.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the Pirates producer confirmed he’s spoken with Depp about a Jack Sparrow return. He said: “If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it. It's all about what's on the page, as we all know. It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it. I love him.”

By the sounds of it, Depp’s part would be in a supporting role, but perhaps could open up a way to a starring role in Pirates 7. Bruckheimer added: “We are still working on a screenplay. We want to make it. We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven't quite gotten there yet, but we're close.”
