A man was gobsmacked by the bill at the UK's most affordable Michelin Star pub, a title that carries immense prestige in the culinary world.

The coveted Michelin Star is awarded to dining establishments for their exceptional quality by the Michelin Guide, with one to three stars up for grabs. With more than a hundred Michelin Starred restaurants dotted around the UK, it's a common belief that fine dining at this level comes at a steep cost, but TikTok sensation Callum Ryan has proven otherwise.

Known for his food critiques and travel tales, Callum boasts a whopping 1.1 million followers and has racked up 49.2 million likes on the platform. In a recent TikTok video, he shares his thoughts on The Coach, a one-star Michelin gastropub in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, helmed by renowned chef Tom Kerridge.

Callum exclaimed: "I went to the cheapest Michelin Star restaurant in the UK and you won't believe how much it cost." The food guru tucked into the lunch set menu, kicking off with a tomato salad with burrata and basil pesto.

He confessed: "I know you're going to think I'm exaggerating but this was probably the best salad I've ever had. It was genuinely perfect. The only thing I would change is the portion sizes, I just wanted so much more but I can't get over how cheap this was."

For the main event, he savoured a smoked chicken macaroni cheese. While he found the topping "kind of chewy", he praised the dish's creamy and rich qualities, dubbing it a "really, really good main."

He gave the pasta a solid eight out of ten before moving on to a zesty lemon posset for dessert. Callum was so taken with it, he mulled over a return visit to The Coach just for another helping.

Wrapping up his review, the foodie shared the cost details: "The food, the presentation, the service were all ten out of ten and for two courses this meal would have cost me only £15. Of course, I went for three courses and the whole thing cost me £22.50 so I’d highly recommend that you go and check it out.”

Callum's TikTok review has clocked up 104,200 views, more than 2,000 likes and attracted a flurry of comments, at the time of writing.

For those with a penchant for fine dining without breaking the bank, Michelin Star establishments like Bulrush in Bristol offer a six-course tasting menu early evenings from Tuesday to Thursday for £65, while Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham serves up a three-course dinner from Wednesday to Friday for £47, as per the Michelin Guide.
