If you have an ageing smartphone in your pocket and have been thinking about upgrading to a cutting edge Android device, you might want to hold off for just a few days more. Later this month, Android creator Google is set to unveil its latest Pixel phone line up, and chances are they will be among some of the most interesting smartphones of 2025.

Google has already confirmed it’ll live stream its next ‘Made by Google’ launch event on August 20 at 6pm UK time where it will launch the Pixel 10 range of phones. The tech giant has even gone so far as to show an official video of the Pixel 10 Pro on its Store website.

The phone looks incredibly similar to the Pixel 9 Pro, right down to the triple cameras on the back nestled inside the distinctive bar on the back. This indicates that Google is not overhauling the Pixel’s design.

The firm has probably also put this short video out because, like clockwork, there have been a slew of Pixel 10 leaks in recent weeks. Google has always struggled to keep its new phones secret until launch day, and for whatever reason, the Pixel 10 is no different.

There have been enough leaks for us to ascertain there will be a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, all replacing their various Pixel 9 models.

One of the biggest changes appears to be the base model Pixel 10 gaining a third camera for the first time. Likely a telephoto lens, this would give buyers fewer reasons to update to the 10 Pro.

However, Google will likely include a raft of new and updated software features on these new Pixels, so we will have to wait and see why one would upgrade and spend more on the Pro series this year. One rumour suggests the Pixel 10’s camera will be a technical downgrade on the Pixel 9’s and be the same sensor used in the £499 Pixel 9a - we’ll have to wait and see.

You can also bet that the new handsets will be stuffed to the gills with AI features, which may or may not float your boat. For years Google has offered clever software tools such as image and photo editing, but things have heated up recently with the AI arms race in full swing.

Expect the Pixel 10 to build on Google Gemini’s smarts to include tools for photos, image generation, writing, and heaven knows what else to differentiate the phones from the latest iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models.
