One person has died and three others have been injured in a stabbing in London. Emergency services rushed to the scene in Long Lane, Southwark, on Monday (July 28). Four people were treated at the scene and three patients were taken to major trauma centres, according to London Ambulance Service. The Service confirmed one person died.
Roads were closed, including nearby Abbey Street, with a police cordon in place and traffic being diverted. Multiple emergency services vehicles were at the scene, including police cars and ambulances.
An X-user tweeting from the account MRodwell posted on the platform: "You might want to avoid #abbeystreet #bermondsey a serious incident has taken place. The road is presently closed."
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said LAS was called at 1.04pm to reports of the stabbing.
They said ambulance crews, advanced paramedics, incident response officers, a command support vehicle and paramedics from LAS's tactical response unit were sent to the scene.
A trauma team from Londonβs Air Ambulance consisting of a paramedic and a doctor were also sent by car.
The spokesperson said medics treated four people at the scene and took three patients to major trauma centres "as a priority".
They added: "Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene."
London's Metropolitan Police has been approached for details.
